G1 SafeStart Driving Course
A 40-hour blended beginner driver education program that prepares students for G1 and G2 testing in Ontario.
Who it’s for: New and novice drivers preparing for Ontario graduated licensing.
The DriveWise SafeStart program helps new drivers learn proactively and cooperatively, with online theory, interactive classroom learning, simulator labs, and one-on-one in-car training.
How the program works
- Step 1 Online theory 10 hours of self-paced online modules at home.
- Step 2 Classroom + simulator 10 hours of interactive classroom learning and simulation labs.
- Step 3 Homelink modules 10 hours of Homelink homework to reinforce classroom learning.
- Step 4 One-on-one in-car 10 hours of individualized in-car training — never shared with other students.

- MTO certification upon successful completion
Good to know
- You can begin online and classroom theory before age 16; a G1 is not required for those portions.
- Allow up to 72 hours for your Online Learning profile after registration.
- MTO fees for obtaining a G1 are not included in the program fee.
